I forgot to mention it at the time, but I was thrilled when Mindful of Murder debuted as the #1 Bestseller in Canadian Independent stores.

There will be two more books about Helen Thorpe, the butler who didn’t do it. Look for A Meditation on Mayhem in early 2024 and a third book in early 2025.

If you are a regular checker of this blog, my apologies. I almost never update it. But here’s a little something I wrote this March, inspired by my birthday and the pandemic.

Inspired by friends who are into hot exercise classes, I tried one last weekend. The first alarm bells rang when I realized that EVERYONE in the studio was ripped as the Rock.

Thank you to everyone who has sent me a letter recently. I love getting letters. Unfortunately, I’m ashamed to admit that I’m about two months behind in responding

I enjoyed my visits to the libraries in White Rock, Langley, Port Coquitlam and Mission. A special thanks to the librarians who organized everything and the students and other assorted people who attended.

Last night my husband was rousted from the local aquatic centre. I blame his new motorcycle.

I thought that I should put the “lovey bunny” quote in context. Malika was talking about how surprised she was by some of the dark turns her novel-in-progress was taking.

This morning I’m off to Lord Beaverbrook High School. As luck would have it, after the reading yesterday, a student from Lord Beaverbrook gave us a demo of the school song.

So the people at my table last night were grad student poets. And a couple of critical theory students. OH. MY. GOD. The poor bastards.

I’ve just arrived in Calgary for Wordfest and am pleased to report that the hotel is very nice. It’s so nice that I’ve put my clothes away in the bureau provided in the hopes that they’ll soak up some class while they are in there.

Unlike Apprentice contestants, Alice is quite happy inside the box.
